The North Central part of the city stretches from the river to its northern bounds at the municipal airport and Yellowhead Trail. Although this region includes the downtown core of the city, it's not all looming skyscrapers or barren parking lots. True, it's not nearly as forested as some other parts of the city, but North Central Edmonton manages to strike a nice balance between being totally urban and respecting nature. Notably, the area's southernmost districts possess ample amounts of green real estate in the form of riverside parks, golf courses, conservation areas and other perks that one might be surprised to find just a stone's throw away from the metropolitan centre.

Noteworthy Subdivisions

North Central Edmonton is composed of a number of boroughs. These include Delton, Alberta Avenue, Eastwood, Prince Rupert, Elmwood Park, Westmount, Westwood, Parkdale, Queen Mary Park and Spruce Avenue. 

The transitions between these regions aren't always too striking thanks to the city's generally harmonious planning policies. Still, each individual borough has its own distinctive culture and sense of community pride.
