Grandview Heights Offers Modern Living With Rustic Origins
Edmonton has a long history of rural culture. Once, the entire region was populated by dense old-growth forests and the occasional farmstead, but today, such sights are relative rarities within the city limits. They're not completely absent, however, and as neighbourhoods like Grandview Heights aptly demonstrate, the modern metropolis still leaves plenty of room for naturalistic throwbacks.
Getting to Know the Natural
In Grandview Heights, one can get attuned to the ebb and flow of the rustic without missing a beat. Whitemud Park offers trails and equestrian activities, and the connecting creek ravine leads to ski clubs and campgrounds without taking locals too far from home. Nearby sights like the Edmonton Valley Zoo, University of Alberta farm and historical parks make it feel like second nature to get immersed in all things cultural.

Grandview Heights is unique among Edmonton's many subdivisions. Unlike other communities, this region is somewhat of a suburban island with no directly adjacent neighbouring boroughs. Although this does mean that it takes a short drive, bike ride or bus trip to get to shopping and the constant happenings downtown, locals seem to love their relative isolation and placid surroundings.
Most of the homes here were erected during the 1960s, and in modern times, all but a few are single-family, owner-occupied properties. Thanks to high ownership levels and a decades-old community league, Grandview Heights is known for offering a rewarding lifestyle that makes it feel natural to connect with others and take an active role in the city's future.
Grandview Heights is one of Edmonton's more elegant neighbourhoods. The area is very appealing to urban professional couples and the prices reflect the quality of life found here. Homes do not come on the market often here, and when they do, they do not last long.

We recently had the opportunity to relocate to Edmonton from Halifax. We only had a limited amount of time to find a place to live and not knowing the city or the real estate market, we asked for a referral from a colleague who also recently relocated here. They recommend Patti Proctor from Maxwell Devonshire Realty.
Patti quickly arranged a meeting at our convenience to discuss our home preferences, life style expectations, whether to rent or buy, and home wish list. That evening we received an email with a detailed list of homes for us to review. She cleared her schedule and dedicated the next few days to chauffeuring us around the city, while educating us on the nuances of each prospective neighborhood we explored. We viewed quite a few homes in the short period of time and Patti made us feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire experience. We purchased a home and it closed on the night before we had to return home. Patti and her team guided us, via long distance, through the purchase process for Alberta quickly and efficiently, helped to arrange a home inspection, and made themselves available to questions and requests from our legal and financial agents.
Patti possesses a vast wealth of knowledge relating to local residential architectural history, home construction, city bylaws and community culture; to name a few. She and her team were always welcoming and helpful. We would be pleased to recommend her and her team to anyone considering buying or selling a home in the area.
