The triangular shaped neighbourhood of Dechene is located in west Edmonton. It was named after Joseph M. Dechene, the father of Judge Andre M. Dechene. The neighbourhood was annexed by the city of Edmonton in 1972. The neighbourhood is located just south of Callingwood Road between 178th and 184th streets. The neighbourhood provides easy access to the West Edmonton Mall, Canada’s largest, via 178th Street. The neighbourhood is served by both public and Catholic schools.
